new jtv 69 guitar on off with batteries problem. HELP

I just bought a Jtv 69 new listed on ebay.  it was new .  Awesome guitar! i was playing around with the magnetic pick ups and was really happy i made the purchase.

I waited for the batteries that were supplyed to charge fully to test out the variax functions  .   And then i put the battery in .  it shows leds fully charged in the back of the guitar .

I press the guitar model button to engage and then it does nothing .   i press for 2 seconds i press a quick 1 sec  ,  10 sec nothing .      it just wont turn on using batteries .

So i was bummed out.  then since i had pod HD500 i hook it up using the digital cable,   it  turns on blue lit knob and works fine with this cable.   Good sound works with bench software!

I was dissappointed with the craftmanship of the new guitar on the electronic side. as    this important feature should have been tested out at the factory.  THe reason i bought the guitar was to use variax modeling technology and it

does not work to turn on.

.  the seller of this guitar is offering a $100 discount if i

decide to keep this guitar.      if so do you think i should return it  and get a new one or get this one fixed by line 6  this guitar is new and has blank warrnty papers, but i bought it on ebay

please some advise from the pros would be nice TIA .  thanks for reading this post.

It sounds like you either have a faulty battery, or there is an internal problem with the battery circuitry.

If you can persuade the seller to send you a replacement battry on a trial basis while holding your return option open, I would start there. Then if the new battery doesn't solve things I would return it for a replacement.

Personally, I would not take the $100 discount to keep the guitar as it is. While you could probably get it fixed through Line 6 warranty, it could be a lengthy process leaving you without the guitar at all for a long time.

By the way, the fact that the warranty papers are blank does not mean that the guitar was not pre-owned, registered, and  for some reason returned to the eBay seller - who is now reselling it as new. I know!! Who could imagine?? If that has happened, your warranty period has already at least partially expired.
