JTV update malfunction!!

just tried to update my JTV firmware and process stalls out in the middle.  Now I can't get anything to work right.  The interface has a blinking red light and is not recognized.  Has this happened to anyone else?  What to do at this point?

Yeah , its happened to a few of us , there is another thread but basically what you need to do is rollback to 1.71 the re-install the update .if you have any customised models stored click on no if it asks if you want to keep them DONT touch the guitar during the install , in fact dont even look at it and dont run any other programs when the install is running so theres less chance of it timing out due to background programs slowing it down and finally recite the whole of Led Zepplin's Kashmir backwards half a dozen times . It took me 3 attempts which seems the norm .

    +1 to Afkasm's response,

If that doesn't help, please try holding the MODEL SELECT Knob down as you power on the guitar by plugging in the 1/4" cable into the guitar while the battery is charged up in the guitar.

Also, if you are in Windows, run the Task Manager and in the Processes Tab, find Line 6 Monkey while it is running.  Right-click on Line 6 Monkey in that list and set the priority to Realtime.  Then, re-start Monkey and attempt the update once again.

Let us know if the problem persists.

    Regards,

      Re: RE: JTV update malfunction!!

I was having the same problem, timing out in the middle (after reinitializing the first time)...the model knob would go off but not come back on..and then I'd get the blinking red light that there was no connection.

What I had to do was...have botht he digital usb cable and a stardard 1/4" cable plugged into the guitar.  Turn the model knob OFF, then start the update and it worked.  For some reason when the model knob was on before starting the update, it would try to reset the guitar....model knob would go off....but never come back on again.

      Hope it helps someone else.

      Cheers
