Dr.Z question

Hey guys, I am having a hard time reproducing the non-pre version of the DR.Z amp model distortion with the pre model. I would simply use the non-pre version but it sounds very plastic and artificial through the DT25. To get similar distortion out of the DR.Z pre model I have to overdrive the tube section to about 2'clock. This is ridiculously loud. I play a pretty large venue weekly and cannot play anywhere near that level. I have added virtual distortion but it just does not have the same tone..
I have a feeling that the word "attenuator" may be coming my way..
Thanks guys,
Chris
Hey Chris
Maybe have a look at this post http://line6.com/support/message/307968#307968
From my understanding (and as discussed in the post) the amp breaks up in the poweramp stage not the preamp stage. Poweramp distortion sounds wonderful but can be hard to achieve at lower volumes.
You might be able to drive the master above 2 and then lower the channel volume? I have had some success with that.
Never tried an attenuator but that could be an option to get the tone from this pre, which is really very good!
All the best
