I'm trying to update the firmware on my M9. I get midway through and then there is a crash with an unspecified midi error. This has rendered my M9 unusable which is utterly abysmal. Please send information on how to correct this issue ASAP.
Regards.
I have tried to do this using 3 operating systems XP, Vista and Windows 7 having first updated the driver for the audio interface and I am still getting the same message. There is no consistency as to when the update will crash - sometimes staright away other times it will get quite far. I have also tried updating from the file with similar results.
I am also extremely disappointed with Line 6 support - to have to wait for a forum response when a product is out of action is extremely poor in this day and age- why not have live chat.
Having now spent over 6 hours trying to resolve the issue with no success I would be grateful if somebody could respond at the earliest opportunity.
Regards,
Kevin.
I recently purchased a M9 and updated it on Vista 64bit without a problem. The Line6 Monkey did it for me. What midi interface are you using? It seems the best one is the M-audio uno usb adapter. Make sure it is a new one though, the older ones will not work on Vista and above. Can you describe your exact process leading up to the crash? I have also updated my M13 several times with no problems and it has to be done manually because it doesn't have Monkey support yet.
Good luck,
Jason
Hi thanks for responding (more than I've had from Line 6 !)
It was an uno midi interface with the drivers updated. I did finally get the update to work after about 6 to 7 hours of fiddling but I have no definitive answer as to why it did. I probably attempted to run the upgrade over 100 times and I was finally lucky enough for it to be successful. I hadn't changed anything from the attempt before where it had failed.
I don't think I'd ever bother with any more updates - I've got better things to do with my weekend than wasting it on this nonesense.
I made a critical error of buying a $5 midi to USB cable and trying to do the update, seemed like it was working but would never engage the m13 after about 4 tries got frustrated and went out and bought the $40 M Audio cable and it worked like a charm first shot
Yea my m9 in now useless. Will only rad achecksum error and on computer midi error. Now it turns on and says flash update mode waiting comand.Nothing is working.
Hello,
Can you please provide me with a little more information? What kind of computer are you running on? Is this error message happening when you try to update via Line 6 Monkey?
Can you tell me exactly what the error message is?
Also, what kind of MIDI interface are you using and have you tried connecting your MIDI interface to other USB ports on your computer?
Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for your MIDI interface? Have you checked to make sure all cables are connected properly?
