Line6 really had bad luck with the new OSX. I upgraded to SL because it´s a lot smoother and faster, which is worth it. Live 8 and Record works perfectly and so does CS4. I would never imagine that a freakin external soundcard would have such a hard time.
My ancient EMU works without a hitch and I´m just using its old drivers.
Good way to put it "bad luck". I did a clean install on a new drive with SL and after I figured out the order to load the Line6 software, I'm working fine other than an occasional pop or click and monkey is not 100%. I'm trying to give Line6 the benefit of the doubt that they are working to resolve all the issues people have been reporting. On a side note, after doing a clean install, I wanted to reload the jam-packs for garageband, and they errored-out at the end of the install and did not show up. So that's why earlier I said maybe part of the blame could be apple's. No hard feelings toward anybody. We are all here for the same reason.
fwiw line 6 has never been a company who cares about its user base, they care about compensatory profits end of story. Look at the Delay Modeler and the mess they've never fixed with that product. I know guitarists who have purchased them going on 3 and 4 times now because they feel they cant gig without them. Why should line 6 fix the problem if people are going to purchase one every 2 years when they die? In that lies the problem, no proper business ethics. More money more money more money and that's the way it is with line 6 don't fool yourself.
If you're looking for a company that cares about it user base don't pick line 6, let this be a lesson to you (one that I too have learned the hard way). Purchase your gear from another vendor who cares about its user base. I've had versions of Snow Leopard for almost a year now at my day job from ADC, I can't see how line 6 couldn't be compliant unless their management team doesn't feel the mac user base is a priority. With the lack of communication the community has received from line 6 regarding this issue can you really come to any other conclusion? I can't.
Everything in my studio runs fine with Snow Leopard with the exception of my line 6 software. This includes all my Apogee and MOTU hardware and my software including all my VI's and Plug-ins. I have plenty of them. Admittedly (this is for all you fan line 6 boy flamers who will inevitably crawl out of the wood work from your mommies basement) I do have a bone to pick with line 6 because this is not the first time they have treated us as customers in such a way. There are more then just a few products that have never been fixed when promised by the support team in writing they would be. They also make a regular policy of removing threads from these forums that criticize them or their products or to renege on a written promise. My advice is buy elsewhere, I do. It only took one time for me to learn my lesson.
Line 6 drivers are giving me a hard time recently. On my Mac with Snow Leopard I have had the same trouble as everybody else. On my PC with Win 7 (yes, 32bit Prerelease Version) I get L6 driver blue screens every other day. It's really a pitty but I might have to let my trusty old POD XT pro go, for which I also bought the VST Plugins, model packs and foot controller.
My dealer just showed me the new Digidesign Eleven Rack...
I have over 300 apps installed in SL and all the ones I need to work and run my web dev business all worked without a hitch.. a few had some issues that were generally fixed within 1 week of SL launch except for 1 which is this one.
It's easy to say DONT INSTALL A NEW OS RELEASE!!!! but for gods sakes it ain't a frickin windows pc and while that saying goes true in a windows world it generally doesn't in a mac world. Yes there can be issues like this but it's a bit weird that it is taking this long when every other mac app maker has long since fixed their issues.
It's all well and good saying don't install Snow Leopard but that's no good to me as I've just ordered a new Mac to replace my PC and all new Macs now come with Snow Leopard installed and no way to revert back to 10.5. I've used a UX8 with my pc for a couple of years now and I intended to use it with the Mac but it seems that won't be possible, even with the beta driver as that apparently is glitchy. So I'm now without an interface until Line 6 sort this out, I can't by anything new as I've just spent the majority of the budget I'd set aside for the studio on a top spec mac and I've got 2 bands I'm meant to be recording soon that I'm having to put back and I'm going to have a new Mac gathering dust, this has crippled my studio, that may sound overly dramatic but I am like I say left without an interface.
Once again the line 6 staff being EXTREMELY helpful and not at all Belittling
this company needs a serious foot in its arse
The reason "serious professional, experienced" musicians do not jump to a new OS is because it is now considered good business practice for software companies to release buggy code and let their customers perform the final bug testing.
But, let us not mix apples and oranges. The problem we are talking about here is Line 6's long time failure to provide even marginally adequate support to their MAC users. That problem existed _long_ before the release of Snow Leopard.
I can't believe the post earlier pointing to Maudio's site, as if that's going to help.
BTW I noticed that they had all their USB & Firewire stuff tagged with driver releases for Snow Leopard, 6.2 already, & the only stuff not covered was legacy stuff.
If this is what I can expect & will be very vocal about it to all my musician friends & gladly point them towards Maudio stuff as it IS compatible & has been recommended by a line 6 worker on their own forums.
BTW I was an accessories AM at Guitar center Scottsdale & still have friendships with 30-40 employees in AZ. I will be glad to suggest to them not to push Line 6 to Mac owners as there is NO effort to communicate any information to this very LOYAL group of people.
Telling a customer to go look at a compettitors site & see that their stuff is'nt compatible is PROFESSIONAL?
Then letting them see that their compettitor's gear is updated to the newews SL rev is a brilliant move.....
I guess the post was from an Maudio plant looking to turn line 6 customers into their customers.
WEAK.
I'm not sure you're right. I think it was someone doing a 'my preferred software's more up to date than your preferred software, ner, ner, ner'. I don't use any M-audio stuff, but I was quite impresed by what looked like a comprehensive hardware/software driver table at the given URL.
Goodness knows, I dream of Line 6 offering up-to-date drivers for any operating system across their entire product range.
M-Audio also appear to offer drivers for Mac OS going back to System 9 and even 8.5 for various bits of hardware, and particularly their Legacy gear for which they have a special section, if you explore their drop down menus.
I call that not too shabby.

thank you for the compliments, is true that I'm a professional since end of the 70ies...
let's play 'find the SnowLeopard Driver' then...
you may start here...: http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support&tab=driver
cheers!!! ![]()
Yeah we should do that.....oh look, M-Audio has drivers for everything!
Let's look at Tascam: http://www.tascam.com/article;34,2034,3800.html
Hmmm......looks like my choice is clear. UX2 is on eBay!
And in regards to the assinine comment "don't upgrade to a new OS right after it comes out": do show me a Mac that came with Leopard installed after the release of Snow Leopard. That's a ridiculous thing to say.
This is my last Line 6 product. With the Axe FX on the hardware side and Guitar Rig 4 on the software side, it's just not the best sounding stuff in modeling anymore, and this just compounds the issue.
Besides, my Mesa Boogie into a Palmer sounds a lot better anyway than anything produced by the Toneport, so no significant loss. Actually, the Pocket POD run out of the cabinet-less "Amp" jack into the Palmer sounds better than the cabinet modeling from Line6.
Tascam you say? but that's the same 32 bits mode... 64 is only under development... lame I say. I'll wait for the release of the Line6 drivers and then I will decide... but anyway my Fast Track Ultra is on it's way. so the Line 6 gear will be used at home(jamming and maybe some home recording) and *-audio stuff will be used to handle the recordings and so on.

True, but SL is booting into 32-bit by default anyway. However I think I'm going to go with the FastTrack Ultra, as the specs are quite nice.
