Pod XT Live &Windows 7

Hi everyone,

I'm just bought a new laptop with Windows 7 on it and I can't seem to connect via USB. I've pulled out my old Vista laptop and everything is fine so I've updated all the drivers (not sure if it updates drivers within the Pod) and still nothing.

All I'm getting is the 3 duh duh duh's, so it's not feeling the device at all.

If anyone can help, I'd be grateful.

Hi I bought this 500 off Ebay a few years ago and am unable to register it because I expect the previous owner still has it registered. I do not have his contact information so please reset so I can get my Variax workbench to work.

Riffworks still not working...

OK I did what needed to be done. Deleted, downloaded, and reinstalled. Now when I try to save any changes I get this error.

Runtime error...

Program...Works\Riffworks line6 edition.exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the applications support.

I also deleted and reinstalled Gearbox. Now some of the tones that came with it are gone as well.

I was able to find missing drum sessions. All previous recordings are safe.

It seems I am stuk in a bind...

Want to change My username

Hi Folks,

When I was registering My Line6 gear a while back, I was in a rush and having an irrational day, and decided to opt for the username "cunto". Looking back on this, it is somewhat of a regrettable piece of on the spot thinking.

I tried to change it from the personal details page but it came back as "Error:286". Is there any way I can change this?

Hi all,

I am looking for part numbers of the flex cable connector on the mainboard of the Variax 500. Also the part number for the other connectors as well if available.

I would prefer manufacture part nubmers versus Line 6 internal part numbers.

Workbench - Pot Resistance - help me learn

Hi folks,

I've had my Variax for a couple of years now (love it). I've made a few custom models with Workbench, but not really bothered to try adjusting the settings on the controls page where you can set things like:

Volume Knob Pot Resistance

Tone Knob Pot Resistance

Capacitance

I think I've got a reasonable idea about the Volume Taper (and I think I prefer the "Audio" option instead of the "Linear" default), but I'd like to learn more about the others.

Could anyone comment on how they use these settings, including when it is good to change from the defaults, and also if there are any pages on the Internet you know of where I can read some more - that would be great!

Possibility of effects unit blowing amp?

I use the M13 with my Mesa Boogie Dual Rec, I was recording and I wanted to record some feedback for ambient noise tracks, so I switched on a delay and a reverb on the effects unit. For a second it was feeding back nicely, with the decay and mix controls turned up quite high on both effects, but it began to build and build, louder and louder (feedback loop?) until I had to hit the effects off. Instantly after my amp was noisy as hell, humming very loudly and making scratchy noises when I adjusted the knobs on the front of my amp. I hit the standby button off/on and there is a THUMP that is ridiculously loud coming from the speaker. I know for certain this isn't a speaker issue, it's either my amp (which has been sent in and diagnosed before when I experienced the same problem, they replaced my loaded power tube board because the screen capacitors were fried...but by what? After that it worked fine) or my effects pedal having some weird issue and loading my amp down when I use too much delay and reverb at the same time. On a timeline basis, there is a correlation because this never has happened before I owned the M13, and since I've had it this is the second time this has happened. When it does happen, it blows the loaded power tube board, the screen caps, the power tubes, and the diodes. Add to that the price for it to have the parts replaced at $100 an hour, the cost of parts, and the cost of shipping...it's a small fortune. I can't afford it this time, and I'm really frustrated. Ideas or suggestions? I'd be very greatful if a Line 6 tech employee would join in on this little discussion.

previewing custom tone

Can custom tones be previewd before downloading? Would the tones be accessible simply by adjusting the knobs on the amp or is "deep editing" needed?

Floor pod adapter

Hi, i just bought floor pod product. When i checked adapter it says 120V 60Hz but in my country we use electricity 220V at 50Hz rate. My question is can i use a simple 220V to 120V converter for adapter or should i buy a new adapter with compatible 50Hz?

Are 147 Leslie sounds in ToneCore Roto-Machine same as 147 in POD XT LIVE?

I have both of these units. My question is this:

Is the 147 model/patch in the POD XT LIVE the same as the 147 model/patch that is my Roto-Machine? If so, I really don't need both. I know this sounds academic, but I'd really like to hear the answer from someone with definitive knowledge. It is clear that the Roto-Machine has more controls and switches, such as the Blend and Drive, but it would seem that I could manage the speed with an expression pedal. Anyway, does someone know the facts?
